New Zealand
New Zealand extends 1,600 kilometres from sub-tropical Northland in the north to Central Otago in the south - the world's most southerly grape growing region. It came to wine relatively recently but made an immediate impression on the world stage. Long sunshine hours, cool nights and diverse soils produce wines of extraordinary purity and precision, styles that are immediately distinctive and increasingly sought after. Four regions in particular are worth knowing well. Explore our New Zealand wines →
Marlborough
New Zealand's largest wine region and the one that put the country on the map. Around 2,500 hours of sunshine annually and relatively low rainfall produce Sauvignon Blanc of extraordinary intensity and aromatic power, the benchmark for the variety worldwide. Pinot Gris, Riesling and Pinot Noir also thrive here. Explore our Marlborough wines →
Central Otago
The most southerly wine region in the world and the only one in New Zealand with a continental climate, surrounded by the Southern Alps. Hot summers, cold winters and dramatic day-to-night temperature shifts produce Pinot Noir of world-class quality, concentrated, structured and unlike anything else in New Zealand. Hawke's Bay
New Zealand's best region for red wine. A mild maritime climate with warmer inland areas capable of ripening Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay that balances generosity with natural acidity beautifully.
Waipara Valley
A hidden gem an hour from Christchurch. A range of hills protects the region from cool Pacific winds, creating a warmer microclimate ideal for expressive Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
