A combination of classic rich Cabernet fragrance coupled with a palate loaded with sweet fruit flesh & texture. Fine balanced tannins complete the picture and give the wine immediate appeal but will reward cellaring for many years.
Reynella has a long history of making outstanding wines from Cabernet Sauvignon from McLaren Vale under the Reynella Basket Pressed label. The 2016 continues this tradition from an outstanding vintage with handpicked, berry sorted and open fermented small parcels that are basket pressed to the highest quality French oak.
Bouquet: Fragrant McLaren Vale Cabernet with ripe plum, mulberry and liquorice with tobacco leaf, sage & black olive adding interest to the bouquet.
Palate: Densely fruited palate with dark plum flesh, ripe mulberry & dark chocolate flooding the palate. Complexed by balanced cedary oak influence & coupled with fine grained tannins leads to a Cabernet with beautiful rich flesh with classic varietal structure and persistence on the palate.

95 Points - James Halliday in the James Halliday Wine Companion 2019 on 8/1/2018 "Small parcels were basket-pressed from one vineyard to provide 95% of the wine, the remainder open-fermented, all basket-pressed into French barriques for 14 months maturation. The wine is a richly textured and structured carpet of blackcurrant fruit, cabernet tannins dancing a jig at every point along the way to the finish. Oak makes a contribution, but it is the least of the three pillars."
94 POINTS - Andrew Caillard "Deep crimson. Fresh inky, graphite, dark berry fruits with hints of dark chocolate and roasted walnut. Well-developed and richly concentrated wine with blackcurrant, blackberry, praline flavours, fine grainy/ cedary tannins, some graphite notes and underlying mocha/ roasted walnut nuances. Finishes claret firm with seductive dark berry fruits and a long bittersweet tannin plume. Showing a nice balance of fruit and bottle-age complexity. Drink now – 2035"
