The 2024 growing conditions could be described as near perfect for Tasmania, with the exception of some isolated frost events. The season was characterized by good winter and spring rainfalls leading into warm clear days and cool nights throughout the growing season.
Bouquet: Lifted floral aromatics of wisteria and jasmine
Palate: Juicy, vibrant and refreshing on the palate. Intense cut lime and juicy citrus fruits. A light talc structure gives focus and length, perfectly offset with sugar balance and long flowing acidity on the back palate
Best paired with freshly caught Tasmanian flathead with fresh lime, coriander and just a lick of salted Tasmanian cultured butter.
Cellaring Potential: Drink now – 10 years
96 Points - Huon Hooke – The Real Review 2022– “Lovely array of floral aromas, gardenia, boronia, lemon zest, a twist of spiced honey. The wine is very intense and striking on the palate, firm and concentrated with power and punch, and a long finish that is cleansing and appetizing. The acidity is bright and tense but also smooth and avoids hardness. Still, it would work best with food, such as a quite rich fish dish. Very impressive young Riesling with a bright future."
94 Points - Regan Drew – Wine Pilot 2025 “With fruit sourced from Eddystone Point’s home vineyards in Pipers River and fruit from the Derwent Valley in the central-south of Tasmania. Fermentation in oak barrels for some extra intrigue and depth. Fragrant and alluring. Green apple, lime flesh and with a mountain stream minerality of river stones, blanketed by sweet jasmine florals. Lively and zingy, native fingerlime bursts over a wonderfully chalky, talc-like texture. Intensity matched with long refreshment.”
