Grant Burge Icon wines are named in honour of Meshach Burge, and the biblical origins of his name. The great grandfather of founder Grant Burge, he made the Barossa Valley home in 1855, beginning an enduring family winemaking tradition.
COLOUR - Excellent, dense and dark purple in colour.
NOSE - Intense blackberry, assertive yet elegant cedary oak aromas and dark cocoa that support the fruit aromatics.
PALATE - Rich, layered and complex. Dense black fruits hit the front of the palate, with powdery textural tannins providing support and length. A wine built with excellent cellaring capacity, and will drink well for many years to come
FOOD MATCH - Wagyu Scotch fillet steak with grilled vegetables
CELLARING POTENTIAL - 20+ years
95 GOLD Points - Halliday Wine Companion 2025 - "Grant Burge's flagship shiraz offering has built a loyal base of fans and has an enviable pedigree of cellaring like a champion. It's no wallflower. It's full bodied, and big and bold, with a dark concentration of fruit, a proliferation of spicy oak and hefty tannins and a real sense of horsepower ticking away under the hood. The 2019 model perhaps has a littlemore tooth to the tannins, but it's all you expect from a wine of its reputation. Powerful and built in the traditional style." - Dave Brookes 2024
