The 2003 Coonawarra is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot with 22 months in new Allier and Nevers French oak then bottled unfiltered. 2003 was a slighter warmer vintage compared to the long term average.

It is the colour of medium garnet.  The 2003 vintage tasted by the head winemaker in 2020 says it has the aroma of Christmas pudding, saddle bag leather and earth.  The palate is showing fruit cake, leather, tar and is savoury with chalky tannins.

This wine is under cork and the head winemaker Mike Mudge says it's drinking beautifully now.
