The 2018 Eileen Hardy Shiraz combines the outstanding fruit from the 1892 planted vines of Upper Tintara with the dark, dense and concentrated fruit from the 53 year old vines of the Elliot McLaren Flat vineyard to produce a wine of great power & depth of flavour with remarkable balance & persistence. Traditionally vinified with natural yeast, open fermentation & basket pressing has resulted in a wine that represents the pinnacle of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Selected rows and sections were hand packed, sorted and fermented separately and matured in the finest French oak for 17 months.

96 GOLD POINTS - Halliday Companion 2022"An iconic Australian wine and possibly the best young example tasted. The tannin management, increasingly more refined. Explosive aromas of raspberry bon-bon, bitter chocolate, violet, clove and licorice. Thankfully, though, more than the fruit (guaranteed in these parts), it is the tannic burr that is most provocative." Ned Goodwin
94 POINTS - James Suckling - “ Aromas of mulberries, plums, candied cherries, dried herbs, black pepper and cloves. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins. Round, balanced and creamy with fruity character and a lively finish. Vibrant and flavorful.”
